Uriel Vanchestein, Clarinet

Uriel Vanchestein is a laureate of the Geneva International Music Competition and the AudiMozart International Competition. He has been invited to perform recitals and give master classes at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, at the Xian International Clarinet Festival in China, and at the Caracas International Clarinet Festival in Venezuela. He has been a member of the Verbier Festival Orchestra from 2008 to 2010, has performed a recital for Soroptimist International in Japan and appeared as a soloist with such orchestras as the Geneva Chamber Orchestra, the Haydn Orchestra, the Trois-Rivières Symphony Orchestra and I Musici Chamber Orchestra of Montreal. Also a founding member of the Boreal Trio, Uriel performs regularly with the group around the US and Canada. The trio was recently invited to perform for Pro Musica of Montreal and the National Gallery of Arts in Washington, D.C.

As a composer, Uriel’s works have been performed on four continents in such venues as the Verbier Festival and Carnegie Hall. Recently commissioned by the Orford Art Center for a piece premiered by the New Orford String Quartet, he was also asked to write for the New York Woodwind Quintet, the New York Classical Players, the Harlem Quartet and the Fibonacci Trio. Also a film composer, his latest score was featured at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival in New York as part of Tumi’s “Perfect Journey”.

After being a pupil of Maestro Inouye from the Metropolitan Opera, Uriel has conducted a performance of Wagner’s Siegfried-Idyll at the Verbier Festival in Switzerland and a performance at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Lyon.

He recently completed a Master’s Degree in Film Scoring at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and holds a Bachelor and a Master’s Degree from the Juilliard School.
