THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING SHUFFLE CONCERT
WHAT ARE SHUFFLE’s GOALS?
At SHUFFLE Concert, our chief goal is to bring classical and contemporary chamber music to audiences in an accessible and interactive way. We are also committed to sharing styles of music that chamber music audiences may or may not be as familiar with, such as jazz, musical theater, and Latin music, and to creating a personal connection with audiences by breaking the 4th wall and freeing audiences to converse with us on stage.
In addition to our performance goals, we care deeply about creating a future audience for classical and contemporary chamber music, supporting the work of young talented composers and arrangers, and bringing live music to underprivileged and developing communities. These goals are met through SHUFFLE’s projects such as the Outreach Fund, Ensemble Commissions, and SHUFFLE’s Composition Competition, described below.

WHAT WILL YOU HELP SUPPORT?
We are currently working on the following projects:
I. THE OUTREACH FUND
A project geared towards offering free outreach activities in unprivileged communities. As we tour the US as well as other countries we are often asked to perform in schools and retirement communities. We love doing these performances as there is nothing more joyful than seeing young people get excited about music and bringing joy and happiness to audiences who cannot attend regular concerts. Unfortunately, there is very little funding for these outreach performances, which is why we are working on creating a SHUFFLE fund that will allow us to offer these events at no cost to these communities.
SHUFFLE Concert has already commissioned more than 20 arrangements as well as two new works by Avner Dorman and Jonathan Keren for our menu. We would love to keep the momentum going by creating more original works for the ensemble and helping young composers get the exposure they so deserve. What distinguishes SHUFFLE in its commissioning process is the fact that we can guarantee multiple performances of these works throughout our season in different venues across the US and abroad.
III. COMPOSITION COMPETITION
In addition to our commissioning activities, we started a composition competition for young composers. We hope to make this competition into an annual endeavor.
The competition is in two tiers:
Tier 1 — Original Composition: composers ages 18 and up will be asked to submit a short work for any combination of the instruments available in the ensemble (Oboe, Clarinet, Violin, Cello, Soprano and Piano).
Tier 2 — Arrangements: composers will be given free reign to arrange a work from any style that they feel would work well for the ensemble.
The works submitted will be examined by a panel of distinguished composers and the final round will include a public reading of the top works in each tier. Winners will be offered cash prizes ($1000, $750) and the winning pieces will be featured in our new season’s menu.
SHUFFLE Concert plans to undertake the recording of works commissioned by SHUFFLE over the last two years, including the winning works of the composition competition. This project will help increase the visibility of talented composers as well as the ensemble's by adding to the cannon of contemporary chamber music.
